Championing on-course play and golf mentoring.
First Tee – Tallahassee is proud to partner with Tom Watson’s nonprofit organization – Watson Links – to help more mentoring opportunities happen for junior golfers in Tallahassee.
Every kid deserves a mentor. On-course rounds shared by golf mentors and junior golfers:
- Help kids learn life skills, develop on-course etiquette, be creative and become passionate players
- Provide an easy way for adult golfers to pay it forward and join a growing community of champions that drive inclusion, fun and positivity in the sport.
- Can be enjoyed by players of all levels and backgrounds
Throughout the year, we will offer various initiatives for vetted mentors to play alongside juniors who are ready for on-course play. All rounds are 9 holes and are free for mentors and juniors to participate and free hats and bag tags will be provided. Each initiative will specify who qualifies for participation and Watson Links will help provide guidance for mentors, parents and juniors to make the most out of the experience!
Days of Play
Once a month, on Fridays, we’ll host 9-hole rounds for threesomes to play, featuring 1 mentor and 2 First Tee – Tallahassee juniors. Three tee times will be offered. We’ll handle the tee times and offer guidance—you just sign up and enjoy the game!

Introducing The Tallahassee Urban Cup
A mentoring month will feature 12 juniors and 12 mentors that play weekly, Ryder Cup inspired on-course rounds!
What is this May Mentoring Month?
Play this May in weekly 9-hole matches, driven by mentor-mentee duos. You’ll be paired at the beginning of the month.
Format:
Two teams of 12 will be formed: Team Red (Hilaman) vs Team Green (Gaither) Each duo will tee it up weekly on Tues or Thurs alongside a duo on the opposing team. Playing format will vary. Tee times will be set up for you to choose from. Points will be earned for winning matches.
